Almond productions were commissioned by Amec to produce a broadcast quality video to illustrate the walkways on the Bonga FPSO (floating production unit). The main criteria of the video was to demonstrate the fact that when work on the Bonga was complete it met all of its initial design and health and safety objectives.
Two versions were produced one as a straightforward walk through the platform, illustrating design and safety aspects. The second version was also used as a visual confirmation of the original 3D cad design, where the original virtual reality designs were matched up with the video footage and edited together so both could be viewed simultaneously.
The sail away was also filmed, where the Bonga left its dock and proceeded along the river Tyne.
The video of the Bonga walkways and its ‘sail away’ were shown to the Nigerian Government by Amec and UK Department of Trade and Industry. This was screened to government officials before the arrival of the Bonga to its new home Nigeria Offshore for technical and marketing purposes.
